Interjection একটি part of speech যা আকস্মিক অনুভূতি যেমন আনন্দ, বিস্ময়, দুঃখ, প্রভৃতি বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয় এবং এটি ব্যাকরণগতভাবে sentence এর বাকি অংশের সাথে সম্পর্কযুক্ত নয়।
An interjection is a part of a sentence that expresses emotion such as joy, surprise, sadness, etc. and has no grammatical relation to other parts of the sentence. It is frequently used in informal language than in formal speech or writing. A note of exclamation sign is used after an interjection.
Wow!, Hey!, Hurray!, Alas!, Yippee!, etc. are some commonly used interjections.
Example:
- Wow! The movie was really (Showing surprise)
- Hurray! Bangladesh has won the match. (Showing joy)
- Alas! Her father died yesterday. (Showing sadness)
Classification of Interjection:
There are mainly six types of interjections. These are discussed below.
বাক্যে সাধারণত ছয় ধরণের interjection ব্যবহার করা হয়। সেগুলো নিচে বর্ণনা করা হলো ।
Interjections for Greeting:
যে interjection কাউকে সম্বোধন করে ঐ ব্যক্তির প্রতি সৌহার্দের অনুভূতি বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে interjection for greeting বলে ।
The interjections used to greet someone showing the warmth or emotion towards the other person are called interjections for greeting.
Hi!, Hello!, Hey!, etc. are some interjections for greeting.
Examples:
- Hi! How are you doing?
- Hello! I am Sohana.
- Hey! I am just kidding.
Interjections for Joy:
যে interjection হঠাৎ ঘটে যাওয়া কোনো আনন্দের ঘটনার কারণে আনন্দ বা সুখ বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে interjection for joy বলে ।
The interjections used to express happiness or joy on the occurrence of a sudden happy event are called interjections for joy.
Hurray!, Yippee!, Wow!, etc. are some interjections for joy.
Examples:
- Hurray! Bangladesh has won the match.
- Wow! The movie was really awesome.
- Yippee! We are going on a vacation.
Interjections for Approval:
যে interjection বক্তার দ্বারা কোনোকিছু ঘটে যাওয়ার পক্ষে তীব্র সমর্থন বোঝায় তাকে interjections for approval বলে ।
The interjections used by the speaker expressing a strong sense of approval and agreement on something that happened are called interjections for approval.
Well done!, Bravo!, Brilliant!, Splendid!, etc. are some interjections for approval.
Examples:
- Bravo! Shakib has taken a wicket.
- Well done! You have stood first.
- Brilliant! You have done a terrific job.
Interjections for Surprise:
যে interjection বক্তার দ্বারা কোনোকিছু ঘটে যাওয়ার জন্য তীব্র বিস্ময় বোঝায় তাকে interjection for surprise বলে।
The interjections used by the speaker expressing a strong sense of surprise on the occurrence of something are called interjections for surprise.
What!, Eh!, Ah!, Oh!, Hey!, etc. are some interjections for surprises.
Examples:
- What! You have done this.
- Hey! What are you doing?
Interjections for Grief/Pain:
যে interjection বক্তার দ্বারা কোনো দুঃখের বা বেদনাদায়ক ঘটনা ঘটে যাওয়ার জন্য তীব্র দুঃখের বা বেদনার অনুভূতি বোঝায় তাকে interjection for grief/pain বলে ।
The interjections used by the speaker expressing a strong sense of grief/ pain on the occurrence of anything unfortunate happened are called interjections for grief/pain.
Alas!, Oh!, Ouch!, Ah!, etc. are some interjections for grief/pain.
Examples:
- Ah! We have lost the game.
- Alas! He died yesterday.
- Ouch! I hurt my knee.
Interjections for Attention:
যে interjection বক্তার দ্বারা কোনোকিছুর প্রতি শ্রোতাদের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করা বোঝায় তাকে interjection for attention বলে ।
The interjections used by the speaker to draw the attention of the listeners are called interjections for attention.
Listen!, Look!, Behold!, Hush!, etc. are some interjections for attention.
Examples:
- Listen! I am warning you for the last time.
- Look! The singer is coming.
- Hush! Someone is there.
